Technical Director

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Director with a strong technical background and proven experience in estimating, architecting, and managing complex software projects. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable engaging with clients to define solutions as they are leading internal development teams to deliver excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Estimation

  • Evaluate and estimate the scope, complexity, and effort required for large-scale software projects.

  • Define high-level architecture, technology stack, and infrastructure requirements.

  • Conduct discovery sessions to fully understand client needs, expectations, and business goals.

  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Highlight potential challenges, propose viable solutions, and negotiate technical directions.

2. Client Communication

  • Communicate with client technical teams.

  • Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies early in the planning phase.

  • Establish best practices and standards to ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability.

  • Maintain long-term relationships with client technical leadership and negotiate future scaling opportunities.

3. Team Leadership & Internal Development

  • Lead, mentor, and review the software development team.

  • Conduct technical interviews, evaluate candidates, and make hiring recommendations.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the development department.

  • Collaborate with project managers and other department leads to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Drive process optimization, code quality, and efficiency improvements.

4. Technical Oversight & Governance

  • Oversee architectural consistency across projects and ensure adherence to company standards.

  • Review code, system design, and infrastructure configurations when necessary.

  • Ensure timely resolution of technical challenges and effective communication across teams.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends to keep the company competitive.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of professional experience in software development and architecture.

  • 3+ years of experience in a senior technical leadership role (Technical Director, CTO, or similar).

  • Strong understanding of full-stack development, cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), CI/CD pipelines, and software lifecycle management.

  • Proven track record of accurate project estimation and delivery of complex software systems.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in client-facing roles with demonstrated success in relationship management.

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience with modern frameworks and technologies (PHP, Node.js, Java, React, etc.).

  • Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to both business goals and technical excellence.

  • Strategic thinker capable of balancing innovation with practicality.
